Virus on Thy Heartstrings by ~Yllek:iconYllek:

A carier, thou hast harboured me,
Safe beneath thy skin.
Spreading my infection,
The pestilence within.
A splinter to society,
Hid deep beneath thy guise.
Nurtured gently in thy care,
Safe hid from prying eyes.

I damage then I multiply,
I move on, ye, I doth spread,
And never be my job complete,
'Til thy emotion's dead.
I love thee, yet I hurt thee,
Malicious, set in deep.
A virus on thy heartstrings,
Torture thee, and make thee weep.

I make thy life a nightmare,
Cast me out for thy own sake.
Consign me to thy memory,
Before thy life I break.
Destroy me before I infect
Another hapless life,
And curse them to damnation,
And bury them in strife.

Author's Comments

Be forewarned, this is based on my actual feelings.
This is a narrative, and the narrator is me. These are my thoughts and emotions about myself.

Also... note the archaic language... Don't ask, because simply I do not know.

It's all true, and I can show you the evidence.

You know, I understand why people write from other povs (seeing as how I do it all the time) but I've come to the realization that the best poems are the one's that directly relate to the person writing them. It's like-- you either get it, or you don't, and either way you're better because of the understanding you did or didn't come out of it with. You either read something and felt a shift in your views or heart, or you read it and felt nothing, and in that nothingness you felt the need to experience what was right in front of you.
The personal poems you write, such as this, are a definate rarity and are a pleasure to read. I like that you write as you are, as you feel, as if it's only you reading them.
And at this point everyone scrolling through the comments are saying, "holy fuck would she shut up already?" lol

No matter what they think
or what they do,
No matter what they feel
Or what they see in you,
You're gonna get there,
Whatever they say,
And nobody's going to stand,
in the way
:iconyllek:
They'd better not, because comments like that are great.
I like getting a longer comment, even if it's negative.
It's better than the n00bish:
"Me likey ^_^"
that I tend to get...
